REIMAGINATION OF BROWNFIELD ROHAN ISLAND THROUGH EMBODIED EXPERIENCE
This artistic research addresses the Prague brownfield Rohan Island, which is already half built up with new buildings waiting for elite clientele and half still an urban jungle with specific vegetation, diverse terrain, and freedom of expression without urban dictates. The focus of the research is to understand what ephemeral, wild and forgotten places mean to their inhabitants and to stimulate their recreational, cultural, and artistic potential that enhances urban well-being. The aim of the project is to define the "Landscape Imaginary" of Rohan Island and to create a parallel destination in the metropolis through embodied experience, offering a different perspective than the clearly defined city. The project takes into account the social and physical dimensions of the area and defines a Landscape Imaginary using methods developed during the year-long research - Landscape Body Mapping, Train of Thoughts and Landscape Nicknames. My project takes inspiration from research Image of the city (K. Lynch, 1960), which focuses on visual references in space. The research responds to visual references by revealing mapping of place through embodied imagery and sensory experience, which my research suggests is causing a change in the relationship with brownfield sites, which are usually perceived as 'dead zones' (Doron, 2015).
