METHOD.MOVEMENT.URBAN

METHOD.MOVEMENT.URBAN

Method.Movement.Urban researches possibilities for moving in urban spaces. The project questions the pre-described movements in public spaces throughout various target groups. The research is based in cross disciplinary techniques, combining movement studies and urbanism. Method. Movement.Urban criticises the exclusion of the body and its requirements to move from different intentions (functional, aesthetic, imaginational) in public space.

In the year 2018-2019 Method.Movement.Urban has focused on building adaptable methodology that starts with the movement research and continues, after field work, to more traditional urbanism approach. Field workshops are an essential part of this research and even though the structure has been fixed it is still adaptable to various urban environments, for example: climate, population, social, economical, architectural characteristics and to several groups: kids, seniors, inclusive groups, dancers, and so on. Workshops consisted of observing, improvising, mapping, interventions and feedback, individually and collectively.

The artistic work is highlighted at the interventions in public space when the researched movement process is presented. The progress of Method. Movement.Urban continues after every workshop with the urbanistic research of the public spaces. The aim of the methodology is to underline various characteristics of urban spaces that affects the participants movements as well as accentuate the various movers in them. In the future Method. Movement.Urban will be continued by forming movement based workshop series to urban designers, constituted by the results from the methodology workshops.
