C-ARTE

C ARTE project was initiated in the context of the Master Performing Public Space, at Fontys University of Fine and Performing Arts (NL). Its intentions rely on living and experimenting with public spaces through the freedom of Art. Artists, associations and locals of Madeira Island come together to create micro-projects presented in public space. These projects intend to create a space for communicating and sharing through art, introducing contemporary art styles, such as contemporary dance, improvisation techniques, theatre of the oppressed and interdisciplinary crossing in Madeira’s community.

The creation of this artistic platform intends to gather artists and citizens of Madeira Island, in order to establish a closer relation to new types of artistic practices and processes, resulting in a variety of individual projects.

C ARTE invites adventurous and curious souls
to board on this journey where spaces that seem banal are now transformed by the artistic practice and the traveller’s experience.
