Jun 20 MOVE THE PUBLIC SPACE

Class 2017/18

This project is researching how performing and playing games can be combined. Inside the unpredictability of public spaces, we play games as we dance, or we dance as we play games. Inside the normal way of being in public spaces, we bring some chaos, or ... is it the other way around? Public space is already chaotic and we just smile on it!
This project traveled in various cities, such as Thessaloniki (Greece), Brussels (Belgium) and Tilburg (Netherlands), and explored different cultural elements and how those influence thework. The intention of the project is to continueto work in an intercultural way, trying to define the differences and the similarities between people and cultures, and how much playing can connect us. The project also travelled in various thoughts and philosophies, so as to be developed in both practical and theoretical way.

Vicky Angelidou

Vicky Angelidou has studied Psychology and Dance and is a student in the postgraduate program Performing Public Space at the FontysUniversity in Tilburg, The Netherlands. She createddance/movement interventions in public spaces in various cities such as Tilburg (Netherlands), Brussels (Belgium) and Thessaloniki (Greece), andshe created various contemporary dance works, which were presented at theaters and festivals in Thessaloniki and Athens.
Vicky teaches contemporary dance in several dancestudios. She constantly tries to combine her social background with movement and dance, by creatingperformative actions that will question, influenceand transform the public domain.
